About this event
CCCR PCA SUV Drive & Picnic
Saturday June 20, 2026
This drive is specifically designed for Porsche SUVs (Macan & Cayenne), with paved canyon roads combined with some dirt road sections, to show off the dual purpose capabilities of the Porsche SUVs. The drive is a 50 mile loop in the hills west of Templeton with about 16 miles of smooth dirt roads. It is a beautiful drive and hopefully we will traverse some roads that you have never driven on before. The dirt sections are easy to drive, with all-wheel-drive not required, just a fun way to get the SUVs a little dirty. The route has a lot of single lane sections so we will be going slow and pulling over for other vehicles. Even though the driving loop is only 50 miles, it will take a little over two hours to complete due to very slow speeds on the dirt sections.
We will start and end in the Atascadero/Templeton area. At the end we will picnic at a park so bring food, chairs, and blankets. We do not expect to be able to sit at picnic tables so be sure to bring chairs and/or blankets. We will start at a Subway so you can get your food for the picnic, if you don't already have it. There is also a Shell gas station near the starting location.
If you have a GMRS/FRS radio, please bring it with you because that will help with communication during the drive. If you don't, that is fine because it is not necessary for the drive. Cell phone service will likely be unavailable during much of the drive.
Start Location:
Subway at 2290 El Camino Real, Atascadero.
Take the US-101 Del Rio Dr Exit. Go East on Del Rio Dr and then South on El Camino Real. Gas station is at the corner of Del Rio and El Camino Real. Subway is on your right, at the south end of the shopping center.
Start Time:
9:15 at Subway parking lot to sign waiver.
9:30 Drivers Meeting
9:45 Leave on Drive
End Location:
Templeton Park at 550 Crocker St, Templeton
We plan to park on 5th Street near the corner of Old County Rd.
We will picnic in the park.
End Time:
About 12:20 at the park for a picnic.
Depending on the number of Porsche SUVs registered, we may break into multiple small groups with delayed start times so we don't have too long of a line of SUVs on the single lane road sections because we do expect to have other vehicles coming in the opposite direction that will need to pass our group.
